This was the name of a little place that sold halo-halo across from my high school St. Paul College of Quezon City (SPCQ) on Aurora Boulevard QC. For some reason we were not allowed to go there in our school uniforms, which is probably why we all did, anyway. The halo-halo was incomparable. Quite recently, I discovered that Little Quiapo actually started in UP Diliman 72 years ago where a sorbetero by the name of Ireneo Bartolome, set up an ice cream stand. Much later when I had already graduated from UP and was teaching at the Faculty of Engineering in the University of Santo Tomas (UST) on España Street, the same Little Quiapo had set up across from that campus, and the halo halo was still the best. My friend Aida, (who was also teaching in the Chemical Engineering Department), and I often had merienda there. I hear it has moved to East Avenue now in Quezon City. Its menu has expanded, but pancit palabok and halo halo are still its mainstays, and loyal clientele still flock in.
